Vanilla

Botanical Name  : Vanilla planifolia

Common Names : Vanilla

Major Producers :  Madagascar, India, Tropical and Central America, China and Turkey.

Aroma               :  Sweet &  Exotic.

Part used           :  Fruit ~ Beans

 

Description and History:   Vanilla is the only edible plant in the Orchid family.  A native of Central America, the Spanish travelers brought this plant to Europe in the seventeenth  century.  

Vanilla is among the most widely used spice in the world.

 

Historically, Vanilla was used to treat impotency, ulcers, hysteria and rashes.

Today, natural Vanilla is making a comeback due to high demand from perfume industry. 

 

Ironically, (and unfortunately)  90% of all food additives substitute natural Vanilla with synthetic Vanilla.

 

Principal Chemical constituents:   Vanillin, Benzoic Acid, Benzaldehyde, Vanillic Acid,  Vanillyl Alcohol.

 

Aromatic / Medicinal properties:   Aphrodisiac, Stimulant, Tonic, Coolant.

 

Contemporary Applications:          Food Additive, Confectionary, Perfumery, Incense.

 


Yalang Yalang

 

Botanical Name  : Cananga Odorata

Common Names : Yalang Yalang. Ilang Ilang, Ylang Ylang.

Major Producers : Philippines, Thailand Malaysia.

Aroma               : Sweet, Heady & Flowery resembling Nag Champa.

Part used           : Flower.

 

Description and History:   Yalang-Yalang is native to Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. The flowers are a traditional adornment in the Far East. Their scent is thought to have aphrodisiac qualities. The flowers and essential oil are sedative and antiseptic. The oil has a soothing effect, and its main therapeutic use, like Lavander, is to slow an excessively fast heart rate and to lower blood pressure. With its reputation as an aphrodisiac, Ylang-Ylang was used in treating impotence.

Incensum Vanilla + Yalang Yalang Incense:   Pure Vanilla essential extract from Vanilla plantations of Kerala-South India is sourced and blended with our Masala Mixture.  Later this masala mixture is added with calibrated qunatities of  Yalang-Yalang extract to make the final masala blend.  Yalang Yalang extract is sourced from local plantations in Southeast India.

The quantity of oil is calibrated with precision in order that Yalang Yalng will remain as the mid and base note acting as a catalyst for Vanilla fragrance to blossom out.
